Lead with Purpose

Anchoring purpose at the core of our business strategy.

Applied strives to model purpose-driven behaviors and advance more inclusive, equitable and sustainable practices that help elevate our entire industry.

We align what matters to our employees and the communities where we live and work with who we are and what we stand for as a company. We turn our values into local action through equity-centered community engagement efforts.

Applied and the Applied Materials Foundation deploy charitable and human resources around the world supporting organizations that offer services without discriminating against any group or individual.

Employee engagement amplifies our positive community impact, often via company-initiated events that connect our people with local nonprofits and volunteer opportunities. Employees volunteer for a variety of causes of interest and can also maximize their personal charity support through our Matching Gift and Volunteer Time Grant programs.

We advocate for U.S. and global policies and issues that align with our business interests and values and that matter to our employees and customers.

applied materials employees engaging in fight against hunger

Fight Against Hunger

For more than three decades, Applied’s annual Fight Against Hunger campaign has mobilized employees to combat hunger in local communities. In fiscal 2023, employee donations and a match from the Applied Materials Foundation totaled nearly $3.3 million, supporting 54 food banks throughout North America. Globally, Applied employees address food insecurity in ways that are most relevant to their local communities.

Each year, from Earth Day to World Environment Day (April to June), employees from around the world mobilize to protect our planet and enjoy nature during the annual EarthWorks campaign. The 2023 campaign engaged more than 1,500 employees worldwide. To incentivize participation and further extend lasting environmental impact, the Applied Materials Foundation donated funds to One Tree Planted to plant a tree in recognition of each participant.
