Lead with Purpose

Anchoring purpose at the core of our business strategy

We align what matters most to our employees and the communities where we live and work with who we are as a company. Guided by our values, we turn purpose into action through community‑centered engagement that drives meaningful, local impact.

Applied Materials and the Applied Materials Foundation mobilize charitable and human resources globally, with employee engagement at the core. Through company‑led initiatives, our employees connect with local nonprofits, volunteer opportunities, and community needs—amplifying our collective impact.

Employees support a wide range of causes and can further extend their contributions through our Matching Gift and Volunteer Time Grant programs.

We also advocate for policies that reflect our corporate values and support our employees, customers, and long‑term business interests.

EarthWorks

As part of EarthWorks, our global campaign to inspire environmental action, employees in India are driving hands‑on sustainability efforts. In collaboration with United Way Bengaluru, we support the Wake the Lake initiative to restore and rejuvenate lakes, create vibrant eco‑murals, make seed balls to regenerate green spaces, and participate in beach cleanups to protect coastal ecosystems. Stepping in with enthusiasm, employees help strengthen local environments.

Additionally, the Applied Materials Foundation makes a donation to plant a tree for each employee who participates in the campaign!

STEM education

STEM Education

At Applied Materials India, we are committed to combining technology leadership with innovation‑driven community impact. In partnership with leading NGOs and with NASSCOM Foundation as our primary collaborator, we are establishing fully equipped STEM labs in government schools to ignite hands‑on learning and creative exploration. Each lab is built through a structured process—assessing school infrastructure, installing modern STEM equipment, and enhancing teacher capability through targeted training. Students participate in workshops on design thinking, robotics, programming, and problem‑solving, supported by continuous mentoring. With robotics kits, DIY models, and STEM exhibitions, the program nurtures creativity and real‑world innovation among young learners.

Community Impact

Our community initiatives focus on enabling long‑term, inclusive development across underserved regions. We have supported village electrification, improving safety, connectivity, and access to essential services in collaboration with partners like United Way Bengaluru. Community members benefit from a library that enhances learning and future‑ready skills. Women are empowered through livelihood support, including livestock distribution, micro‑enterprises, tailoring, pickle‑making, bag‑making, and other skill‑building programs. Self‑Help Groups strengthen collective progress, while financial literacy training builds economic resilience. We also support SOS Children’s Villages in offering family‑like care, education, and long‑term stability for children. Together, these efforts drive sustainable growth and community well‑being.

Fight Against Hunger

Through our partner NGOs, we support vulnerable communities with essential nutrition: Akshaya Patra nourishes schoolchildren through mid day meals, SOS Children’s Villages supports malnourished children with family-like care, and United Way Bengaluru provides food support to destitute homes, hospices, and elder-care centers.

Our employees bring this mission to life. "Stepping in with remarkable enthusiasm, they volunteer by hosting a range of in house fundraising activities including charity lunch, sports tournaments such as cricket and pickleball, indoor games and raffles, potlucks, and other initiatives—each contributing to the larger goal of fighting hunger."

Our Employee Engagement

Volunteers are our brand ambassadors, reflecting our values through action. Through employee volunteering, we actively give back to society and help create meaningful community impact.
