Applied Materials offers various full-time employment routes for recent and upcoming university graduates which provide in-depth training, opportunities to work cross-functionally, and access to a global knowledge database.

New College Graduates (NCGs) undergo an intensive 2 to 3-month training program designed to equip them with essential skills and knowledge, ensuring they are well-prepared before transitioning into their roles.

To be considered for an internship, new college grad, or early in career opportunity, you must apply to the position posted on our students and early careers website. If you’d like to connect with us in person, check out our upcoming recruiting events to see if we’ll be at a campus near you. At our recruiting events, you’ll have an opportunity to engage with employees, learn more about the company and share more about your background and interest in our programs.  

Once you submit your application, you’ll receive an email confirmation. If you’re selected to move forward, a member of our recruiting team will reach out to you for additional information and to arrange an interview. You are always able to review your candidacy for a position by logging into your Applied Materials Workday account for the latest status updates. 

For students currently enrolled in school, our recruiting cycle for both new college grads and interns kicks off in September and goes through March. Candidates can expect to hear back on interviews as early as October to as late as March the following year for roles starting in the July/August timeframe.

All intern and early in career applicants should include their contact information, school(s) you attend(ed), actual or anticipated graduation date (not just the year), and major or area of focus. Other great items to include are grade point average (GPA), advanced coursework, school projects, internship or work experience, extracurricular activities and leadership positions. Consult with your school career center for additional useful information on resume building and behavioral interviewing.

Our two largest sites in the US for hiring interns and new grads are our corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, and our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Austin, TX. Our other US sites that hire interns and early in career talent are located in Albany, NY; Gloucester, MA; and Kalispell, MT.

We hire a few hundred summer interns each year, in both technical and business fields. Most internships fall into one of the following categories:

  • Engineering
  • Physical Sciences
  • Supply Chain
  • Finance
  • Marketing

 

Our new college graduate positions are open to candidates who have/will have graduated within a year of the proposed start date. For example, for positions starting in Summer 2023, we will be considering candidates with graduation dates between May 2022 – July 2023.

Relocation assistance is given to all US new college grads who are required to relocate over 50 miles for a position. Early in career opportunities that offer relocation assistance to qualified hires will be stated in the job posting.
