Industry-Academia Partnerships

Applied Materials has been one of the pioneers in industry-academia partnerships in India. Over the past decade, Applied and IIT Bombay have established the following laboratories on the campus:

  • Applied Materials Nanomanufacturing Laboratory
India's first 200mm semiconductor wafer processing facility and one of the few 200mm university-based facilities globally
  • Applied Materials Chemistry Laboratory for Energy & Nano-electronics (CLEAN)
Research and develop new materials for various electronics and renewable energy applications

Our strong academic partnerships with IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, CECRI and IISc span a broad range of areas from life sciences, AI & Big Data, high-performance computing, flexible electronics, energy storage, specialty coatings and materials engineering.

Leveraging India Start-Up Ecosystem
To accelerate innovations in the growing startup ecosystem in India, we launched the Applied Startup Technology & Research Accelerator (ASTRA) program to collaborate with startups, our customers, supply chain, and co-investors across leading financial venture capital firms.

Applied Ventures, LLC, the venture arm of Applied Materials, has also partnered with Endiya Partners to launch Frontier-Tech Ignite (X) Program (FTIX). The FTIX Program aims to identify early-stage, high potential startups that address the local Indian and global needs.
