Applied Materials Employees Raise Millions to Fight Hunger Across North America

Hundreds of Applied Materials employees throughout North America recently participated in the annual “Fight Against Hunger” campaign, an energetic fundraising effort to support dozens of food banks across the United States and Canada. The Fight Against Hunger challenged employee volunteers from all levels and business units in the company to bring their creativity and passion to help fight hunger, ultimately resulting in $3.36 million* distributed to 62 food banks!

Employees’ creativity was on full display with fundraising events including athletic competitions of every sort (soccer, pickleball, basketball, mini golf, to name a few!), not-so-athletic competitions like chili cook-offs and bingo tournaments, executive challenges (including voting for which executive must wear an “ugly” holiday sweater), and more.

The campaign was led by Applied Materials CFO Brice Hill, who shared, “It’s been truly incredible – and exciting – to witness what we can accomplish when we come together with a shared purpose and open hearts.”

Food insecurity is on the rise – with one in seven people facing hunger in the United States** – and money raised during this campaign will help respond to the incredible need by putting millions of nutritious meals on tables across North America.
