At Applied Materials, we align what matters to our employees and the community with who we are and what we stand for as a company. This includes working in regions around the world to positively impact the planet and engaging the next generation of environmentalists in promoting a more sustainable future.
In recognition of World Environment Day and inspired by this year’s theme to “Beat Air Pollution,” our teams in India organized a tree planting activity and distributed plant saplings for employees to take home to their gardens.
In both Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas, employees participated in the annual Bike to Work Day sponsored by Applied Materials, which encourages people to get out of their cars and onto their bicycles to limit pollution while commuting to the office.
We believe that all generations must be involved in ensuring the future health of the world. This is why for the 8th year in a row, our teams in Xi’an, China invited their children to join them in cleaning up park trails and gathering debris on Mount Qinling.
Elsewhere, Korean employees volunteered with youth from the Seongnam Federation for Environment Movements, joining them at outdoor education experiences to help students become more aware of their impact on nature.
We know it’s the little things each of us can do—and sometimes, it’s the young people we introduce to an effort—that will go on to have a big and lasting effect on the sustainability of our planet.
