At Applied Materials, we strive to Make Possible® a Better Future every day – and one of the ways we activate this vision is through our EarthWorks environmental campaign.
Throughout the spring, Applied Materials employees from across the globe joined together to explore the natural world and inspire action for environmental sustainability. This effort includes activities from nature hikes to seedling transplants and beyond!
This year, over 2,500 employees mobilized to protect our planet and enjoy nature. In celebration of these efforts, the Applied Materials Foundation will donate funds to plant a tree in recognition of each participant.
Click through the photos below to see how Applied teams around the world made a difference in their communities during our EarthWorks campaign:
In China, colleagues partnered with Shanghai Roots & Shoots and spent time learning about the zero-waste movement.
In France, our colleagues learned how to maximize the chances of growing plants and put that into practice by planting seeds and greening their environment.
In Korea, our team focused on a “Save Our Rivers” theme and removed trash along the water ways while also learning to become recycling masters.
Our Italy colleagues demonstrated their commitment to reducing their CO2 footprint by biking to work together.
Across Japan, employees helped clean up Mt. Fuji.
Our colleagues in Israel used reclaimed wood to make seating for the community and plant tree saplings.
In India, employees got creative and participated in eco-friendly crafts like upcycling plastic water bottles as bird feeders. They also painted environmental-focused murals to inspire the next generation.
In the U.S., employees got out of their cars and biked to work, joined group hikes, and participated in lake cleanups, tree planting and eco-friendly lessons like how to leave no trace, and more. Photo is from Oregon’s Friends of Trees, tree planting event.
Our colleagues in Austin cleaned the grounds of the UMLAUF sculpture Garden and Museum and participated in a community-wide land and lake cleanup in Lady Bird Lake.
In Singapore, employees learned about a lower carbon footprint farming option: hydroponics. They also planted 50 trees with the One Million Trees movement.
In Taiwan, employees assembled kits containing educational resources to inspire children's curiosity about nature. They also rallied employees from Hsinchu and Tainan to rid beaches of marine waste.
