During the COVID-19 health crisis, we’re living in a uniquely challenging world—one that’s presented each of us with never-before-experienced questions, decisions and lifestyle changes. However, throughout Applied Materials employees are participating in the company’s annual EarthWorks campaign to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and inspire action—this year from the comfort and safety of their homes!
Applied launched its month-long global campaign on April 1—using a virtual format—to educate and inspire employees to make their communities healthier, cleaner and more sustainable. Employees are creating a sense of community and acting as stewards of the Earth regardless of their location.
From Taiwan to Malta, New York, and India to Silicon Valley, California, employees are finding virtual ways to connect with each other and show their passion for making the world a better place.
Earth Day started in 1970 as a network to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide, and has been celebrated each year since then. As we commemorate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day—today, April 22—employees are posting photos of themselves wearing green to spread awareness about the environment.

Employees sharing their nature walks and scenery
Employees posting eco-friendly crafting ideas, including “upcycling” used t-shirts into useable tote bags.
Employees may not have had the opportunity to volunteer as a group, but as individuals we still have the power to create positive change. Giving to your favorite nonprofit, learning about ways to reuse household items or taking a quiz to understand how to reduce your carbon footprint are all things you can do to make a difference.
Join us as stewards of the planet this Earth Day, and every day, by learning about and taking action on sustainable causes that matter to you. Eat differently. Recycle intentionally. Give enthusiastically. Live sustainably!
Get inspired by visiting Applied’s corporate responsibility webpage and follow us on Twitter @Applied4Good to see how we’re engaging in environmental and other efforts year-round.
