Going “All In”: How Applied Materials is Turning Hunger into Hope

At Applied Materials, tackling major technology challenges comes naturally, but we also channel our collaborative spirit towards helping our communities. This past year, we elevated our annual North America Fight Against Hunger campaign with a bold “All In” theme. Thousands of dedicated employees joined forces and stepped up to help those in need.

Facing the Challenge

It’s no secret that food insecurity is a growing crisis. The latest report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service paints a sobering picture: 48 million people in the U.S.—including 14 million children—experienced food insecurity last year. That’s one out of every seven U.S. households struggling to put nutritious meals on the table, and one out of five children experiencing hunger.

In response to these staggering numbers, Applied employees rallied and took action in ways that mattered most to them. Over the course of the “All In” campaign, team members donated funds, volunteered virtually or in person, and joined team fundraising and sporting competitions, with each activity working towards ending hunger and nurturing hope for a hunger-free future.

Driving Incredible Impact

Combined donations from Applied Materials employees and matching funds from the Applied Materials Foundation reached nearly $4 million, supporting 62 food banks and providing over 8 million meals across the U.S. and Canada.

Every dollar, every volunteer hour, multiplied our positive impact—proving that when we go “All In” together, we can make a difference.

Uniting Globally for a Common Purpose

Food insecurity knows no borders, and neither do we. Applied employees from more than a dozen countries joined the campaign to address hunger in their local communities. These efforts included food collection and packaging events in China, Israel, Japan and Singapore, and fundraising and volunteering campaigns for food-serving organizations in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and the UK.

Joe Pon, Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, who championed the Fight Against Hunger campaign, shared, “The passion and generosity of Applied Materials’ workforce comes through so strongly when we get together for our Fight Against Hunger. By going ‘All In,’ our teams not only raised critical funds for our neighbors in need but also delivered essential resources to strengthen our local communities.”
