Recognized by Newsweek's inaugural Green Rankings as one of the top 10 greenest big companies in America, based on environmental performance, policies, and reputation. The company ranked ninth among the 500 largest U.S. companies surveyed, securing fifth place in the technology sector alone, and fourth place in overall green policies and performance.

EPA Green Power Leadership Award

Named to Plenty Magazine's second annual 'Plenty 20' list of key businesses that are making a sustainable future more possible, citing the company's expertise in nanomanufacturing technology and Applied's efforts to help create the largest thin-film solar cells in the world.

BCA Green Mark Gold

Applied's Singapore facility was named a Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Gold award winner for its energy efficiency and sustainability. Buildings are awarded the Green Mark based on five key criteria - energy efficiency, water efficiency, site development/management, indoor environment quality and innovation.

Going Green Award

Named the first corporate winner of the Austin Business Journal's Going Green Awards, Applied's Austin, Texas campus was recognized for its continued green initiatives including being the first semiconductor manufacturing facility to obtain and annually maintain ISO 14001 certification as well as a waste diversion rate greater than 90%.

Named "Top Corporate Philanthropist" by Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal

Named as the Top Corporate Philanthropist for 2008 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal who honored the region's top 50 corporate philanthropists. All companies were ranked by their 2008 cash donations to nonprofits in Silicon Valley.
