SANTA CLARA, Calif., Apr 05, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Applied Materials, Inc. today released its 2009
Citizenship Report that highlights the Company's corporate social
responsibility accomplishments across its business operations - from its
innovative energy-saving products to its contributions to the community,
economy and the environment.

Applied's vision is to apply its nanomanufacturing technology to help
improve the way people live, and recognizes that technology alone will
not make the world a better place. It also requires a long-term
commitment to business and global sustainability, incentives for
socially responsible innovation, and an investment in the well-being of
employees and local communities. Applied is aware of the inherent social
and business consequences of global climate change, and is fully
committed to achieving sustainability in a clean tech economy.

"We are proud of the significant progress we've made in 2009 in
advocating clean energy public policy across the globe, in reducing our
own carbon footprint, and in responding to the critical needs of our
community," said Mike Splinter, chairman and CEO of Applied Materials.
"Our achievements reflect our commitment as a global corporate citizen
to improve people's lives by providing innovative, clean technology and
products using sustainable business practices, and making valuable
social contributions in environmental awareness and education."
