Applied Materials Board Members to be Inducted into Energy Efficiency Hall of Fame

Applied Materials, Inc. is pleased to announce that two members of its Board of Directors, Alexander "Andy" Karsner, former Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy with the U.S. Department of Energy, and James Rogers, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Corporation, will be inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame of the Energy Efficiency Forum.  The forum was one of the first to bring together politicians, business leaders, and non-governmental organizations to promote energy efficiency as the first and most important solution to global energy challenges. Andy Karsner and Jim Rogers were chosen for their respective contributions in pioneering energy policy and implementation and demonstrating leadership in energy efficiency.

"Their background and combined expertise are invaluable as Applied Materials expands its Energy and Environmental Solutions business and drives improvements in energy efficiency throughout the company."

The 22 inaugural inductees to the Energy Efficiency Forum Hall of Fame will be honored by Johnson Controls, Inc. and the United States Energy Association (USEA) at a ceremony on June 15 in Washington, DC, in advance of the 20th Anniversary of the Energy Efficiency Forum.

Hall of Fame inductees include individuals who have advanced the mission of the Energy Efficiency Forum: To be the premier forum that promotes an energy efficiency ethic through the presentation of national and worldwide views on energy efficiency and the resulting impact on the environment, national security and economic growth.

The inductees were selected by the Energy Efficiency Forum Executive Council based on the following criteria:

  • The nominee must have demonstrated ongoing leadership in energy efficiency, making the topic a significant part of the individual’s career and extending his/her impact beyond the organization.
  • The nominee must have attained recognition in the field of energy efficiency, either in the public or private sector.
  • The nominee must have advanced the Energy Efficiency Forum mission.
  • The nominee must have participated or plan to participate in an Energy Efficiency Forum, as an award recipient, speaker, or member of the Executive Council.
