Applied Materials has once again rallied employees for the company’s Annual Food Drive. With a history of more than 30 years of community involvement, Applied runs one of the largest corporate food drives in North America where employees join together to donate time, food and funds to make a difference in the community.
As I sat through a three-hour session of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting recently and waited for my agenda item to be discussed, I realized – once again – that sometimes the wait is worth it.
We arrived in the rain and the dark. We stretched with giant glittery turkeys. Some were fast and young. Others were not. We ran, we strolled, we hobbled. But, we prevailed!

Early on an icy cold Thanksgiving morning, nearly 15,000 runners and walkers took to the streets of downtown San Jose, California to participate in the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. They raised more than $425,000 for three local charities addressing critical community needs.
