Applied Materials is dedicated to dramatically reducing its carbon footprint around the world by designing and enabling environmentally friendly products, improving energy efficiency and reducing the impact of operations. Through Applied's educational and community-based environmental grants and employee volunteer support, Applied Materials is working to build a more sustainable future around the world. Highlights include:
In Bangalore, India, Applied plans to support the installation of solar panels on a Digital Equalizer Center to provide power to computers that allow underserved youth to gain technical skills and prepare for entrance into the workforce.
At Mt Fuji in Japan, in Portland, Oregon, and in Austin, Texas, Applied employees regularly volunteer to clean up parks and natural environments.
In the United States, Applied Materials works to “recycle” excess equipment and supplies by donating the items to nonprofit agencies – including the Resource Area for Teachers in San Jose, California, and the Hands on Central Texas Resource Center in Austin – for reuse by schools and charities.
Applied Materials hosts an Earth Day celebration in Taiwan each year.
At universities around the world, Applied funds specific research projects focusing on renewable energy.
