Education Initiative in North America

Applied Materials is closing the achievement gap in targeted regions in the U.S. Applied launched an Education Initiative in key sites to provide a comprehensive approach targeting the entire educational pathway in selected under-performing neighborhoods.

Clean Tech Competition

To inspire the next generation of innovators, Applied Materials invites youth ages 13-18 to help solve critical, real-world problems through the Clean Tech Competition, a design challenge for students in Xi'an, China and Silicon Valley, California, USA.  The Clean Tech Competition is a partnership between Applied Materials, the National Science Teachers Association and the China Association of Children's Science Instructors. 

Bright Future Fun

Respect for the earth connects us all. Applied Materials created the on-line Bright Future Trivia Game and The Bright Future Card Game to open young minds to concepts of clean energy, sustainability and working together to make our planet a better place.

Through our collaboration with The Tech Museum in San Jose, California and KidCom.com, children around the globe, ages 9+, are invited to enter the virtual world and play The Bright Future Trivia Game. Create an avatar and join Polly Positron in learning about our planet.

James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award
 
The Global Humanitarian Award honors individuals whose broad vision and leadership are helping to address humanity’s greatest challenges. The Award was inspired by Applied Materials Chairman Emeritus, Jim Morgan. Jim demonstrates in his work and his philanthropy that technology can unleash the potential in all of us and turn our ideas into concrete solutions for a better world and that corporations can play a vital role in helping identify and extend the benefits of technology to those who need them most.
