A partnership between Applied Materials and its customers Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. has earned the attention of an international blood-donor recruitment organization as well as met a critical community need. The Corporate Blood Match challenge in 2004 in Austin between the three companies provided a total donation of 3,364 units of blood over a one-year period, an increase of 1,962 units and a 139 percent increase in the combined number of blood donations from the year prior.
To honor the three companies and their employees, the Association of Donor Recruitment Professionals (ADRP) will recognize them with the 2005 ADRP Organization Award in April. ADRP, dedicated to blood donor recruitment, includes a membership of over 500 recruitment professionals in 16 countries. The blood match program was also selected as a recipient of America's Blood Centers 2004 Awards of Excellence.
Applied employees more than doubled their 2003 total donation of 617 units with 1,266 units in 2004. This is the seventh consecutive year that Applied has been named No. 1 corporate blood donor in Central Texas. Additionally, this is the first year Applied Materials was the largest overall donor in Central Texas.
"The Blood Match provided Applied an opportunity to partner publicly with two important customers and demonstrate all three companies' commitment to this community," said Steve Taylor, senior manager, North America Corporate Affairs. "Such partnerships show our employees, our customers' employees, local civic leaders and Central Texas that we can work together in an innovative manner as corporate citizens as well as within our industry to create remarkable success." |
